Design Your Ultimate 'Resilient Home' Competition
BEEP Lab

Design Clinic 1: Architectural History
This webinar aims to raise awareness, appreciation and action of how participants can play a participatory role in the evolution of their built environment and social communities.
Participants will learn about the relevance of architecture’s saving nature in response to worldwide, problematic phenomena. They will also gain a historical overview of how architecture has significantly allowed society to thrive, through the case study of HDB in Singapore. Finally, participants will also gain a broader perspective of how their built environment has evolved over the centuries based on revolutionary inventions and behaviours. They will then be encouraged to put these theories into practice through a design competition.
This webinar aims to democratise the skills and tools architects utilise to plan, draft and turn visions into reality.
Through sketching exercises, participants will be introduced to various frameworks of design conceptualisation, such as function and form.
They will also learn basic terminology by being exposed to architectural drawings of building plans, sections, elevations, etc.
Finally, they will be able to put these skills into practice through a hands-on, supervised model-making session, developing their craftwork and creative thinking skills.
This webinar aims to equip participants with vital soft skills to maximise the impact of their design presentations.
Participants will learn how to organise their drawings and models clearly, and how to pitch them in a coherent, engaging and efficient manner. They will also learn how to give constructive feedback to one another and properly document their works for portfolio purposes. These practices will streamline the work process participants will encounter while they prepare their designs throughout the competition phase.
