Tam Nguyen Chi studied architecture at the School of Architecture of Paris-Villemin and the School of Architecture of Nantes. He is the Director of Design at HighEnd Architecture in Hanoi – a firm with a variety of project interests and recognised for its corporate, commercial, and civic projects. Tam spent many years in France, working with Renzo Piano for twelve, and fondly recalls his involvement in the Cité Internationale project. Tam is greatly concerned about environmental issues in his work, but his dedication to humanitarian and cultural projects brought him back to Vietnam (where he was born). The renowned Bamboo School project in Nha Trang used bamboo as its main construction material. The project was carried out in association with L’Ecole Sauvage (a French humanitarian association) and several sponsors from France, and provided poor children of a Nha Trang suburb with the opportunity to go to school.
