INTRODUCTION |

| 1.1 | “New Ideas for Recyclable Housing” is an architectural design competition organised by SIA in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity, with prize money graciously sponsored by Lee Foundation. It serves as one of the flagship events for promoting the theme of ArchiFest ‘09: Architecture for Humanity. | ||||||||||||||||

| 3.1 | This is a international competition open to all architects, designers, students and members of the public either individually or as a team. | ||||||||||||||||

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS |

| 4.1 | Each participant or participating team may submit a maximum of three (3) entries for the competition | ||||||||||||||||

THE JURY |
||||||||||||||||
| 6.1 | The Jury for “New Ideas for Recyclable Housing” Design Competition, will comprise the following members:

| 6.2 | The decision of the Jury is final and shall not be negotiated, contested, reviewed, challenged or appealed against by any party though any means or process whatsoever. The discretion of the Jury to withhold an award is absolute. | ||||||||||||||||
7. |
PRIZES, AWARDS AND EXHIBITION OF ENTRIES |

| 7.1 | The total prize money for the competition is USD$8000, kindly sponsored by Lee Foundation. | ||||||||||||||||
| 7.2 | Three top winning entries and five commendations will be selected, and the distribution of the prize money will be at the discretion of the Jury. | ||||||||||||||||
| 7.3 | Winning entries, if deemed plausible and buildable, may be submitted for consideration to be manufactured as actual prototypes for implementation. Selected award winners will then be contacted for further development of design, separate appointment and negotiations. | ||||||||||||||||
| 7.4 | Only award winners will be notified by mail/email | ||||||||||||||||
| 7.5 | All submission will be exhibited during the ArchiFest ’09. | ||||||||||||||||
| 7.6 | The Secretariat will take reasonable measures for the safe keeping of the competitor’s submissions, but will accept no responsibility for loss or damages however caused. | ||||||||||||||||

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES |

| All Competition entries are the property of the organisers (Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) and Habitat for Humanity) and all entries will not be returned to the participants. The organisers reserve the rights to retain any submitted material for the purposes of exhibition, publication, publicity and archives. However, the intellectual copyright will remain with the designer. The applicants acknowledge that the organisers have the right to reproduce materials in whole or part without payment/fees to the holder of publication rights or copyright. | |||||||||||||||||

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE AND SUBMISSION DETAILS |

| 10.1 | There is NO participation fee. | ||||||||||||||||
| 10.2 | Registration for “New Ideas for Recyclable Housing” Design Competition is compulsory. Registration can be submitted via email to design_competition@sia.org.sg or via this online registration form.
Submission of all entries must be made by 1 October 2009 by 12 noon to: SIA Secretariat At the time of submission, the competitor shall submit a sealed envelope containing the Entrant’s Release Form and the Concealed Identification Form, the 2 A1 boards (in Landscape layout) and the report mentioned in Item 4. The envelope shall be opened after the jury has made its decision. |

| 10.3 | The 2 A1 boards shall not bear any information, which may reveal the identity of the competitor. Breach of this requirement shall be grounds for disqualification. | ||||||||||||||||

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS |

| 11.1 | Any competitor wishing to obtain further information on the brief or terms and conditions may send queries in English and in writing by email to the Secretariat at design_competition@sia.org.sg. Such email shall clearly state “New Ideas for Recyclable Housing” as the subject heading. Only upon receipt of an acknowledgement email sent by the competition secretariat shall the query be officially registered for a response at the Competition Question-and-Answer webpage. DUTIES AND OBLIGATIONS OF PARTICPANTS AND AWARD WINNERS |

| 12.1 | Participation in the “New Ideas for Recyclable Housing” Design Competition implies that unconditional acceptance of the contents of the Competition Terms and Conditions All Entrants are not permitted to publish or have their submission (or any part thereof) published prior to the notification of the Jury’s final decision. |
||||||||||||||||
| 12.2 | All announced winners for the competition may be required to participate in media interviews, public exhibitions and show case sessions to present the ideas encapsulated within the design. Failure to participate in these events may be grounds for disqualification. | ||||||||||||||||
