The Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) and the Peranakan Museum (TPM) are jointly organising a series of talks on Architecture and Heritage to be held over three Friday evenings in October (2, 9 October and 11 December 2009).
One of the key objectives is to educate and promote Singapore architecture to the public. The series aims to provide an insight to:
- The role that gallery or museum architecture plays in establishing a context for experiencing exhibitions
- The ways in which exhibitions are shaped and determined by architecture
- The ways time, and thus familiarity, impact on one’s perception of the relationship between a building and the collection within it
- The debate about whether some museum/gallery architecture is essentially inhospitable to art.
Organised by Singapore Institute of Architects & Peranakan Museum.
