This workshop will highlight – in a nutshell – the security considerations that increasingly need to be married with architectural design. Following the principle of FFF, this is ideally conceived and interwoven with the architecture at an early stage. Through an educational display depicting trends in security situations, workshop participants will discover how the need to create safe living spaces for our families and the general population has heightened. A short video presentation will point out the essentials of security design that today’s architect cannot avoid in the quest for practical and people-friendly architecture.

Learn what goes on behind the scenes during the development of iconic projects, as a security consultant shares first-hand insights into how security experts work closely with architects to provide critical input. Often necessary to fulfill industry standards and requirements, this process of input involves understanding concepts such as the Missing Column Strategy, Stand-off Distance, Mass Casualty Prevention, etc. Workshop participants will quickly apply what they have picked up in the interactive exercise that follows the presentations.
