Chang Jiat Hwee, Ph.D. (UC Berkeley), is Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture, National University of Singapore. Jiat Hwee is an architectural historian, theorist and critic whose writings on the various aspects of colonial and postcolonial architectural history, socio-technical dimensions of sustainable architecture, and design culture in Asia have been widely published. He is currently writing a book on the genealogy of (post)colonial tropical architecture in the British colonial networks and co-editing (with Lilian Chee) a special issue of Singapore Journal of Tropical Geography on tropical spatialities. Jiat Hwee is also the co-editor (with William S. W. Lim) of a volume on the historiography and theory on architecture and modernities outside the West Non West Modernist Past (World Scientific, 2011) and the author of two architectural monographs   No Boundaries (Pesaro, 2010) and Sculpting Spaces in the Tropics (ORO editions, 2011).
