Joint NUS DOA-URA Seminar on Conservation
31 oct. 2.30 pm . URA Centre, Function Hall, Level 5

This annual seminar, jointly organised by National University of Singapore (NUS) Department of Architecture (DOA) and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) to raise awareness of Singapore's built heritage, has been around since 2002. The event is directed at professionals in the closely affiliated architectural industry, teachers, academics and students involved in architectural education, as well as members of the public who are interested in conservation. Accreditation will be sought from BOA-SIA & PEB CPD Programme.

The theme of this year's seminar is "Heritage Buildings Heritage Interiors". It will highlight that conserving historic buildings involves looking at a building as a whole, both its public face and its more private interiors as best practice. In Singapore, there is a whole range of interiors based on the different types of buildings. There are also different ways of dealing with these interiors sensitively and innovatively while keeping their key interior features like the internal spatial quality as part of the restoration. Case studies drawn from this year's Award winners and URA's recently completed restoration project at 157 Neil Road (The Baba House).

Registration is free except for the site visit to the Baba House.
