The Man+Environment Students Workshop
18 Oct . 9.30 am – 12 pm . Singapore Polytechnic . attendance by registration
A workshop crafted with students in mind, the objectives of the Man+Environment Students Workshop is to create an opportunity for an up-close and personal interaction between students and ArchiFest Forum speakers, and allow students to better draw references on issues beyond those presented during the Forum (16&17 Oct, Drama Centre).
Following the theme of “Man+Environment”, how will each of our speakers envision their role and challenges as Architects, how will their practice change as the world moves into a more environmentally conscious era? Hear the speakers' take of this balance between creating "iconic" architecture and understanding their impact on the environment, and their discussion on these issues through illustration of practical works. Speakers will be invited to speak about Environment in the context of one or more of the proposed 3 aspects:
- Built and physical environment
- cultural and social environment
- Ecological environment
Speakers line-up include:
Andrew Maynard - Andrew Maynard Architects . Australia
Richard Hassell – WOHA . Singapore
Jo Noero - Noero Wolff Architects . South Africa
Fernando Menis - Menis Arquitectos . Spain
Madhura Prematilleke - Team Architrave . Sri Lanka
Students are encouraged to think about this topic before the workshop and information about the speakers works should also be referenced for more fruitful discussion.
Attendance by registration, extended to Forum student delegates only. To register, please email your name/ school/ year of study and telephone no. to archifest@sia.org.sg
