ABOUT ARCHIFEST 2007

The inaugural ArchiFest was held from 27 November to 8 December 2007, a first for architectural festivals, this two-week long festival was a myriad of exciting events including Exhibitions, Forum and ArchiTours (Architectural Tours).

HIGHLIGHTS

1. EXHIBITIONS 2007

+ Design Ideas Competition for the Marina South Residential District
+ ‘S3: Steel. Space. Structure’ Ideas Competition
+ Special Exhibition showcasing international architects’ works
+ National Art Gallery Architectural Design Competition

2. ArchiFest Forum

A two-day forum featuring 14 speakers, who addressed the challenges of urban architectural design centralizing around the theme of “Aspiration to Realisation”

3. NETWORKING PARTY 2007

Held at the City Hall Chambers, the networking party included an award ceremony for the winners of the Design Ideas Competition for the Marina South Residential District.

4. ARCHITOURS 2007

In collaboration with architectural students from the National University of Singapore, three tours were conducted to bring over 400 festival goers to interesting locations in Singapore, including the Tiong Bahru SIT Flats, Pearlbank Apartments, People’s Park Shopping Complex Golden Mile Complex City Hall, National Museum, Hwa Chong Institution (Old Chinese High School) and St. James Power Station.
