A 1½-day forum designed to champion and challenge ideas, works and processes, “Aspiration to Realisation” will be  the departure point from which creative juices will flow.

Singapore having a land area of 699.1km², with the ambition of increasing her current population of 4.48 million (as of June 2006) to 6.5 million, has a unique challenge to meet the needs of a country on an area of a city. In fact, every person will only have 107.5m² of land space, which includes not only the individual’s dwelling space but also all the land needed for parks, power station, reservoirs, infrastructure, etc. The scenario sets the theme of our Singapore ArchiFest 07. The issues and ideas to meet the challenge of a country like Singapore, are invaluable knowledge and resources which the world can share for the world is facing the challenges of high density living and scarce land resources. We believe architects are the leaders in meeting these challenges.

The forum will feature 13 local and international speakers renowned in their field, invited to share their aspirations, ideas and philosophies which they have encountered in their works, in particular, involving the issues facing the city and the living environment.

Singapore ArchiFest 07 will be a forum whereby Architects will challenge and present their processes and realized works. It is envisaged that lively and thought provoking session will inspire all and create even more great ideas for all to bring home and to return the following year and years to come to continue our quest for a better living environment.
